The Senate Bill number 2581 was approved on its final reading an act mandating and strengthening the continuing professional development program for all regulated professions, creating continuing professional development council, and appropriating funds therefor, and for and other related purposes that shall be known as “Continuing Professional Development of 2015” in response to ASEAN economic community.
The approved bill will require professionals to undergo formal and informal learning programs before they can renew their licenses.
The bill also requires government agencies and private companies to include formal and informal learning requirements in their human resource development plan.
The bill was prepared by the committees on Civil Service and Government Reorganization; and Finance with Senators Trillanes, Villar and Escudero as authors.
