ITU launched the 4th challenge of this year’s Young Innovators Competition they are looking for talented young social entrepreneurs using technology creatively to meet the real life challenges. The 4th challenge and the last is Internet of Things and is in partnership with the IEEE IoT Initiative.
The previous challenges were Local Digital Content(Challenge 1), Open Source Technologies for Disaster Management(Challenge 2) and Smart Cities and Climate Change(Challenge 3).
For this challenge they are looking for the best ideas for new businesses and innovations on how the Internet of Things can be used for social good which will improve lives of people around the world.
The methods for spreading or expanding access to existing technology such as near field communication, sensors, RFID or QR codes in emerging or developing countries. It might involve the application of IoT technology to issues and fields of particular interest to emerging or developing economies, such as agriculture, water management, transportation, or predicting disease outbreaks.
If you want to be part of the select group of young innovators from all over the world to present at ITU Telecom World 2014 and you are aged between 18 and 30 and most importantly you have an idea or start-up that aims at solving one of the challenges, you can apply to enter the competition for a chance of joining ITU Telecom World 2014 in Doha, Qatar for a four-day accelerator programme of pitching sessions, workshops and mentoring – as well as the opportunity to win up to USD 10,000 in seed funding.
